The EvaTasFoundation encourages publication and promotion of texts that are, no matter where and no matter how, subject to censorship.
There appears to be a strong interest in our special series on censorship, of which to date booklets have been published about Turkey, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Honduras, China, Ethiopia, Cuba and Macedonia. Given this reassuring interest, we have decided to expand the series. Sylvana van den Braak is working on a booklet about Suriname which includes the latest developments in the realm of censorship there.
Under supervision of the Tibetan Writers Abroad PEN Centre two members are working on a essay about the way in which since 1959 the Chinese government has imposed restrictions in freedom of thought, speech and written word in their country.

Journalist Maartje Duin brought the fund into contact with the chastened Cuban artist and gallery owner Sandra Ceballos.
She is not unknown in the Netherlands. With support from Dutch organizations like the Prince Claus Fund, the DOEN Foundation and the Postcode Lottery she organized in recent years in her gallery Espacio Aglutinador in Havana, various events and exhibitions. The project for which she has approached the Eva Tas Foundation includes an exhibition of paintings, sculptures and photographs. These are products of famous and less famous Cuban artists, including Tania Bruguera, Ovni Zona Franca, and Aldito MenÚndez. Some exhibitors still live on the island, others had to flee their homeland. Their work has in common that it has been boycotted by an anxious and repressing regime for many years.
The board has decided in principle to support this project, if further research on the spot confirms its significance and importance. Initially it is envisaged to facilitate the production of a sound catalog, which can also be spread outside Cuba. The hope is aimed to extend in this way the range of the event considerably. The possibility of a electronic version of the catalog that can be distributed via Internet, will be investigated.
