A world in which people, in any context, can write about what they believe and read whatever they wish: that was the dream of the Dutch teacher and journalist Eva Tas. This was the spirit in which she spent her life opposing, with a razor-edged pen, all forms of censorship and decided to devote her estate to defending the freedom of the written word.

The foundation which bears her name carries out this task in various ways by granting support to the publication of books by writers who, no matter where or how, are being impeded in the practice of their profession.
